Nuclear medicine is a branch of medicine that uses (ionizing) radiation to diagnose and treat diseases.

    Types of Diagnotics include:
    1. X-rays
    2. CAT scans
    3. MRI scans
    4. Radioactive chemicals injected or ingested to act as contrast agents for all of the above scans.

    Types of Treatments include:
    1. Radiation therapy for cancer.
    2. Radioactive chemicals injected or ingested to treat diseases such as cancer.

The types of radioactive materials that are put inside the body are usually very short-lived (hours to days) and are not very energetic (will not cause harm to normal cells/tissues).
